734 10th Avenue, New York, NY 10019
With an atmosphere perfect for a first date, a night out with friends, or an after-work hang, As Is is one Hell’s Kitchen spot that pleases even the toughest critic. Here, beer lovers can choose from 18 brews on tap, offering a wide variety of flavor profiles. While it may be best known for its extensive craft beer menu (and draft cocktails), the bar has a food menu that is nothing to snuff at. Once you’re a few drinks in, order a selection of small plates, like the Waffle Fries with Cajun Sauce, the Kimchi Serrano Dog, and a bowl of olives for the table.
272 Meserole Street, Brooklyn, NY 11206
Home to more than 200 beers (and other libations for non-beer drinkers) this massive bar is sure to impress on International Beer Day (and every other day). Drink in the impressive vaulted ceiling frames in the 4,000-square-foot establishment. Located within the former Hittleman Brewery, a historic building dating back to 1867 and a remaining gem on what was once known as Brewer’s Row, The Well invites you to “Drink in the History” and while you’re at it, enjoy a couple of beers!
5-14 51st Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11101
Located in the heart of Long Island City, Alewife Taproom is home to its namesake collection of beers. From pilsners and ales to a Witbier, their brews are expertly created, with quality being a key focus. They’ve recently opened up a test kitchen, named “The Scullery at Alewife,” where you can try some of their newest brews in development. With a vast a range of flavors, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your thirst.
856 East 136th Street, Bronx, NY 10454
Donned in black and proudly in the Bronx, the Bronx Brewery is a popular venue to relax and enjoy some beer. The building used to be an ironworks showroom in the late ’20s, then home to a lace garment manufacturer named Banner, and finally a vending machine warehouse before it became home to The Bronx Brewery in 2013. Describing itself as being full of character, a no-nonsense atmosphere, and having a plethora of beers—on tap and canned—the brewery is a spot in which you’ll feel right at home.
60 Van Duzer Street, Staten Island, NY 10301
Located in Staten Island’s Tompkinsville neighborhood, Craft House Brew Garden is a rustic bar where you can enjoy your craft beers out in the garden, or in at the bar. Come for an evening spent sipping cocktails, or visit for brunch or dinner, where you can enjoy BBQ, burgers, and a delicious array of desserts.
