Where to Celebrate After Signing Your NYC Lease

April 30, 2019

Congratulations on signing the lease on your new apartment! It’s time to kick back, relax, and treat yourself to a celebratory night out. Here are a few recommended places for you to celebrate finding your dream home…

Desserts

Butter and Scotch

818 Franklin Avenue between Eastern Parkway and Union Street
Brooklyn, NY 11225

Lease in hand, why not celebrate with a sugary treat at Butter and Scotch, a Crown Heights bakery/bar that caters to your inner child (through sweets) as well as your lease-holding adult (through drinks). This woman owned-and-operated spot is perfect for a carefree brunch, a late-night cocktail, or any happy hour in between.

New Territories NYC

190 Orchard Street between Houston and Stanton Streets
New York, NY 10002

New Territories opened in 2016 with the goal of merging traditional Hong Kong sweets with some NYC flavor. This Lower East Side eatery is now one of the city’s finest celebration spots, with its famous Bubble Waffle in flavors like black tea with rose, topped with honeycomb ice cream. One Unicorn Parade milkshake and a Bubble Waffle, and your craving for revelry should be sated for days!

Happy Hour

The Mermaid Inn

East Village, Greenwich Village, & Upper West Side Locations

We love The Mermaid Inn’s oyster happy hour, lobster rolls, and crispy old bay fries, and we highly recommend celebrating there by grabbing a fun cocktail, raw bar platter, or hearty meal. Choose from their East Village, Greenwich Village, or Upper West Side locations and enjoy their happy hour which serves east coast oysters, cocktails, beer, and wine from 5-7 PM daily.

Bearded Lady

686A Washington Avenue at Saint Marks Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11238

Celebrate your new place with some old-fashioned 1950s-diner-style drinks at the Bearded Lady. This Prospect Heights bar is a popular spot from 2 PM-8 PM on weekdays. You can enjoy $2 off all draft beers and an additional $1 off all cocktails, bottled beer, and wine.

The Arts

Syndicated

40 Bogart Street at Thames Street
Brooklyn, NY 11206

This dine-in cinema is the best location to toast your new digs while watching classic or indie films. The 60-seat theater offers table service with small and large plates (including vegan and gluten-free options), cocktails, wine, and beer.

Bat Haus Drink n’ Draw

279 Starr Street between St. Nicholas and Wyckoff Avenues
Bushwick, Brooklyn 11206

Celebrate by getting creative at a Bat Haus Drink n’ Draw party, where every Wednesday from 8-10:30 PM a live model is drawn by a room full of guests including those who are members of the Bat Haus coworking space. Entry is $10 and includes all-you-can-drink beer.

In New York, there is no shortage of celebratory spots where you can raise a glass, paintbrush, or cupcake to the end of your apartment-hunting journey.
